How to make a Fairy in a Jar

In one of my earlier posts I showed you a "captured fairy". These are really fun to make and easy. People always find them very whimsical and fun also. I would like to make some "captured elves" for Christmas. Think that will be a fun twist and I'm sure my 3 year old is just going to love it!

So how do you make one?
Things you will need:

A Jar
Embellishments, such as beads , flowers, ribbon etc
Photograph
Paper
Card stock
Tweezers
Some kind of glue or decoupage medium
Tag (make one or print it from Ewenmeprintables.com
Steps:
1. Research a little bit about these fairy jars. Look at examples and see what you like. Find words the you love that would be perfect on your fairy jar. Cut the word/s out and glue them on card stock.
2. place beads, grass, moss, flowers, raffia at the bottom of the jar that matches your theme.
3. Find and cute an image from a old photograph or find some old Victorian photos that you find on the Internet.
4. Create some fun wings for your fairy. Cute it out and embellish it with glitter etc.. You could use some cool fabric also to make the wings look more realistic. Attach the wings to the fairy.
5.Attach the fairy to heavy card stock. Cut the fairy out and create a stand that will suppost the fairy to stand up straight in the jar. Use your tongs or tweezers to lower the fairy into the jar
6. Now decorate the inside and outside of the jar using whatever you have. Attach the words you cut out in step one either on the outside or use it at a hanging tag.

7. Attach the lid and there you go! You have captured a fairy
Below are some of my favorites I found on the Internet! Enjoy and be inspired

So cute with the tag saying "Fairy Specimen".
